Order Picking with Pick-to-Light
TBWB automated and improved the order picking process of a fruit and vegetables supplier in The Netherlands. We delivered a goods to person system, with pick-to-light system, conveyors, and flowracks.
Challenge
Fruit and vegetable supplier Van Kekem was looking for a way to modernize and accelerate their order-picking process. In the dynamic fresh produce sector, speed and precision are crucial to delivering products to the customer as fresh as possible. The challenge for TBWB was clear: design an automated system that allows employees to find and pick the right products lightning-fast and error-free, while eliminating unnecessary walking distances.
Solution
To optimize this process, TBWB delivered and seamlessly implemented a complete, advanced 'goods-to-person' system.
Our total solution for Van Kekem includes:
Intuitive Pick-to-Light system: How do you find the right apples in a flash? Through clear light signals! This system visually guides order pickers to the correct product, eliminating search times and reducing the margin of error to an absolute minimum.
Smart flow racks: These ensure a highly organized, ergonomic presentation of the products and a smooth, FIFO (First In, First Out) flow of the fresh inventory.
Efficient conveyors: The integrated conveyor system ensures the smooth and rapid transport of picked orders toward the shipping area.
The result? A fully automated and streamlined order-picking process with significantly higher productivity. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," as the saying goes. Thanks to this innovative solution from TBWB, those apples are reaching the customer faster than ever before!
